SHADOW CHILD - SO HIGH

The bass music blog have been getting very excited about Shadow Child recently…

It’s a bit of a 90’s retro fest on here today.  But I had to blog this up, as I’ve been getting more into its infectious simplicity and cheeky old garage vibes.  It’s by Shadow Child, who debuted earlier this year on Dirty Bird, and it features on the current Moda Black compilation by Jaymo & Andy George.  You can cop the compilation here, and it’s well worth a look, also featuring Bristol talents Lukas and Eats Everything.  But this track keeps jumping out at me - the basic stomping beat that somehow does nothing but still gets inside your head, the reece bassline, the pads that may as well have been nicked off a 1994 DnB tune.  It shouldn’t work but it totally does….
